Digital pH meter

Hi everyone,
I ordered a digital pH meter and calibration solution, and I was wondering how you use it to test the pH of your soil. Do you mix your soil with the water you use, and then test that water?? Meter: HANNA HI 98106 Champ pH meter. Thanks.

gonna take a shot at this one.
If your doing this in soil you want to ph your feeding water to the appropriate level, 6.5?
Then water your plant, and collect any excess run-off that comes out the drainage holes.
Test this water and it should give you the ph of your soil.
