KK, we started a DWC back in early december.

We did a small box, with room for six cutting. After a lil up n down process, we finally have the beganing rooting step done.

What were curious about, we ordered sure to grows, six and ten inch drop in's. Were wondering, do we soak the drop ins before inserting cutting, and since they are not like the 2" pucks, that allow the roots to fall to the water, is this gonna hinder the roots from getting moisture?

/sigh, more less wondering if we can get some input from others using DWC, but more about the later stages of the growing process, transplanting, and also some / any helpful tips on things to look out for once they do settle in.

Thanx alot for past info guys, we have had two yeilds so far from soil mixtures, 1st was a singula female of bag seed, but knocked us off our butts, second group of three drying now. Will let ya know how that goes.

Thanx again for the time all.

pics would help...
what are these 'puck' things??

They are just a two inch diameter rockwoolish type substance, with a slit from center out. So that you can pull open, slide in cutting, and just place in a 1"3/4" inch hole. They fit nicely without any support besides the hole itself.
The 6" n 10 " inserts each have a square precut insert whole. Also have the net tops to hold the inserts. Think we found the answers by digging for a couple hours. We will try to put some pics up on here of each lil project we have going, but we'll also share the info we have gathered so far. It's not much, but it helps, n keeps us going.

Prior to transplant, let your insert soak for 24's, in its intended postion for planting. The water level should be two (2") inche's below the where the current root level will be. So to start the insert within the net, should be in the water for an inch or so. Let the pump run for a day prior to transpant. Insert should be nice in moist for transplant next day.
From what it seems, you take the two inch puck along with the cutting, squeeze it into the pre cut hole, and that should be it. We have read that some orchid stones around it would help with stabilizing it and keep it vertical due to the weight, prior to the roots taking hold, yet the folks that make the product swear by it being a stand alone alternitive medium.

So thats what we have at the time. Were going to give it a run threw the ringer and see how that works out, and we'll update our progress n so forth.
