Can this be used successfully for veg and would you? I may have to mod the reflector for a wider light distribution but it looks like a plug n play deal.

Hey, thanks for the nod and link, i've read that DIY a couple times, it's good stuff. This one is like 85.00 in working order and wired for a/c. it would be a good cheaper way to get going get the feet wet and "grow" into a nicer system if i'm successful and figure out what i really want in a light set up.
 
yes its a great way to start...I would look into makeiing it remote as it is bulky and the balast will heat up..just my thaughts..
 
Hey Jackson1-

That should make a fine light for growing. Watch out how it's wired though- some of those older units are wired at 177 volts. Easy to switch to 120 if the wires are marked.
