Yep,,ive seen that on my cucumber and squash stalks. Hate those bastages. I stick an ice pick in the stem to kill them.

Ugly suckers.. looks like you've got a bad infestation too.. when you do get rid of them you may want to start a

regiment of protection.. even just some Neem Oil is better then nothing. Spray them weekly during veg and

especially hit your leaf bottoms ok.. Best of luck getting on top of this..

Thanks, I scraped the one that was very bad. Found 1-2 holes on a few others and hoping the soap/tape trick does the work

Scourge of the outdoor grower. Fracking stem borers. You can put a few drops of soap in the hole or mineral oil. Then tape up the hole. Spinosad will kill them also.
About how long before you know if the soap/tape did the trick? Will there be exit holes in a few days or is it a weekly process? Thanks again

They will die inside the stem. Like i said i use to kill them with a sharp object. Never tried the soap thingy. I am interested and seeing how it works though. They look like a tiny grub worm.

Soap or oil will kill them in minutes. (suffocates them) As for telling, it's all a waiting game to see how the plant reacts.

Wish you the best. puffpuffpass
