light problem!

I bought a 85 watt cfl for my flower box. I bolted the thing in place and wired it up, and it seemed to work fine for a minute, until the light started flashing on and off . I don't know if it is the way i wired it or the circuit but i am clueless. I would call an electrician, but i think that would be a dumb move so im hoping you guys can help me. I wired it by connecting the wires to a power cord (a stripped extension cord) and plugged it in directly to the wall. Here are some pics of the setup, please help!

Should work, check your wire nuts.

sounds like you might need to re-check your wiring like growdude said if thats all in place check that the bulb didnt blow ,hope you figure it out

yea, start from the bulb and run your examination all the way back to the powerstrip plugged into the wall. best of luck
