Women Grow is slated to launch a new chapter in Austin next month and is planning a heavy lineup of influential speakers at their inaugural event.
Billing itself as a national professional network supporting female leaders and entrepreneurs in the cannabis industry, the for-profit group, which initially launched in July 2014 out of Denver, will feature speakers including the Austin based chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, Texas NORML Executive Director Jax Finkel, the Texas Director for the Marijuana Policy Project (MPP) Heather Fazio, and Kayla Brown, the Executive Director of Texas Cannabis Industry Association (TCIA).
Heather Fazio (MPP) Kayla Brown (TCIA) Jax Finkel (NORML)
Finkel will be discussing the legislative process for reforming marijuana laws in Texas and bills which were presented during the 2015 legislative session. Fazio will discuss how to be a strong advocate for cannabis reform. Brown will speak about the TCIA Entrepreneur Incubator program and what opportunities are available to get started in a cannabis related business in Texas.
We are honored to have Heather, Jax, and Kayla, three powerhouse women and advocates for cannabis reform speak at our first-ever Austin event, says Stefanie Raya, a co‐founder of the new chapter. Founding Chair Tammy Benton adds, As Texas cannabis industry evolves, it is important to engage voices like these phenomenal women who have paved the way for organizations like Women Grow to even exist and to ensure that women in the cannabis industry are empowered to lead.
The Women Grow Austin Chapter kick-off event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, September 10 at Abels North located at 4100 W. Parmer Lane, Austin, Texas. The event will offer opportunities for brief personal introductions, open networking, and a speaking program. Tickets are $25 in advance, and $35 the week of the event.
After the initial meeting, future events will be held on the first Thursday of each month, with the next event happening on October 1.
The event is featured for women, however men are encouraged to attend as well.
