Two men were arrested on suspicion of selling cannabis seeds over the Internet, the Metropolitan Police Department said Thursday.
According to the police, Hiroyoshi Hayashi, 32, of Osaka, and Masahiko Shiraishi, 51, of Kishiwada, Osaka Prefecture, were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of violating the Cannabis Control Law's prohibitions on assisting cultivation and possession of cannabis. Eight purchasers, including two high school students, also were arrested.
Hayashi and Shiraishi allegedly sold 10 cannabis seeds through their Web site to a 17-year-old high school student in Chiba Prefecture in January, knowing he bought the seeds with the intention of cultivating marijuana.
