Yea I have noticed alot of the little fellows myself in my operation.

I would build some shelves in the closet if i was you. If you was to separate it with 1 shelve in the center, you could possibly get 2 foot out of each plant before you moved them. You may want to go with more then 1 shelve if you are growing 40 plants though. Maybe a split into 4 sections...

When I was using sand it seemed to keep the soil to moist. I didnt want to risk it, so I went out and got some miracle grow potting soil with peat moss in it. Now I dont believe the miracle grow soil has enough ferts in it, but I am keeping a close eye on that.
