Never in my life have I heard of this......

Temperatures will remain below freezing most of the night as areas
of fog form. This will result in ice being deposited on exposed and
elevated surfaces. Bridges and overpasses can become very icy
under these conditions.

A freezing fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving... slow down...
use your headlights... and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
Also... be alert for icy spots on bridges and overpasses.

Strange!!!

I learned something today.

:p

Find a good vantage point,
and watch traffic become a monkey on a football. LOL

We had freezing fog this morning.....looks like snow, very small snow....then the fog cleared off to blue skys.

That spells bad news:(

We just watched the new and got the same report

Me to Never seen that one.

Our (marine forecast) for tomorrow:

WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT

VARIABLE WINDS 5 TO 10 KNOTS

BECOMING EAST AROUND 10 KNOTS EACH NIGHT. SEAS AROUND 2 FEET. BAY

AND INLAND WATERS A LIGHT CHOP.

Light chop on the bay and inland waters means I'm going
fishing tomorrow. Sorrt to hear about your freezing fog :fid: :D

I work at a little airport here in Indiana. Icy hazes are pretty common in wide open spaces in the winter time. It's very dangerous to be outside for lengthy periods during such conditions. Your clothes become saturated quickly. It's easy to see how someone could freeze to death. I feel bad for all the homeless critters when the weather gets cold like this.

I moved to Idaho once in December. I was asleep when we pulled into Boise. I was wearing sweats, sneakers, short sleeve shirt and had a jacket with me. It was foggy as all hell. I thought, in my young naive head, that I was glad to have my jacket as it was gonna be cold. You know, like a foggy San Francisco evening. Boy was I shocked when I got out of the car and it was -10 degrees.
In my memory the freezing fog was nondiscriminate. It didn't neccesarily concentrate on bridges and overpasses. It stuck to everything. Then the wind would blow and it was just like snow. The trees all looked pretty cool. I feel for ya Mom, it sucked! Be safe.
I got 10 or so inches of snow on the ground here but lots of almond wood for the wood stove to keep me warm....

Edit: Oh yeah, and it seemed, If I remember right, they called ot 'hoar frost' I think....

I am about to go out in it and smoke a bowl. Maybe I should wear a raincoat. ;)

Thanks everyone.

I love freezing fog. I used to live on a mountain in Tennessee just high enough to be at the exact level where clouds condense in the winter, so all winter long we were literally inside the clouds, and it was foggy all the time. When it got cold enough, the fog would freeze and create Hoarfrost -- an icy fuzz on all the little surfaces like twigs and grass and winter berries.....so beautiful. I could just sit and stare at the world in the early morning before any of the other college students were awake....:bongin:

...but this was before i met the ganj. Anyhow. If you get it, enjoy it. I miss it :joint4:
