Question about Ballasts

Ok i was wanting to invest in a 400w HPS setup. I dont know exactly what things would be needed cuz ive seen ballasts that are sold where you have to attach the electrical cord and socket yourself. And i've seen ones where it all comes included.
I would have no idea how to set this up:

Anyone know the difference in the two??
Lastly, i wanted to know if i buy a 400w ballast can i always hook a 250w or lower wattage to it???

Well the first link is a ballast kit, a wireing diagram comes with it and some come somewhat pre wired.
You will need a socket and cord.

The other link is a electronic ballast and is pre wired, still needs socket.

I dont think ballast kits are dificult to wire up, but thats me.
There all i use.

And no I dont think its recomended to use a lower wattage bulb in either of these two ballasts.

I wouldn't mess with the first one. Seems complicated to set up, and for me, that would be too many risks with fire and shorts and whatnot. Go with the 400w digital ballast, heres another one for 189.00 (dont know why it says 230, I just bought mine at that store for 189.

Digital ballests are up to 20% brighter, use electricity more efficently, and run both MH and HPS lamps. To me, it just seems like the way to go if you have the cash.

Thanks everyone for the replys. I appreciate it. Yea i thought the first link was more complicated. I would probably want something already set up just need to buy the socket for the bulb.

i just got a sunsystem 1 ballaast 2 days ago and its killer. i had the econo ballast last time ...this one is way quieter,way cooler, and its gotta be more efficiante and brighter i would guess.
