Heavy snow has helped police destroy a cannabis factory in the borough.

Officers’ in the Thames Valley Police helicopter discovered the factory after a thermal imaging camera picked up excessive heat coming from a house in Shinfield Rise.

Further intelligence lead to the house in Fair Lawn Green being raided on Tuesday morning.

Police found 422 cannabis plants and paraphernalia required to grow the drug at the home.

The first floor was being used to produce cannabis.

PC Simon Pink, from Wokingham police, said: “The house was picked up by our helicopter and its thermal imaging camera during last month's snow, which had detected a lot of heat coming from the house.

“Further intelligence work led to the execution of a drugs warrant at the address this morning, and one person being arrested.

“Four rooms at the property have been used for the production of cannabis.

“I am very pleased because this is the third factory we have closed in as many months.”

Neighbours living in the estate said the discovery had come as a surprise.

One, who asked not to be named, said: “I had noticed the snow on the top of the house had melted quicker than others, but I just thought they must had had their heating on a lot longer as it was cold.”

A man has been arrested on suspicion of producing a Class B controlled drug and the cultivation of cannabis.

Why would it please you to close a grow op Ohh no there selling marijauana to people so they wont go out and get drunk and kill someone in there car.

They close grow houses because alcohol and cig companies fund politicians campains so they keep herb illegal so it don't cut into their profits. That and cause uncle sam hasn't figured out a good enough way to get his dime out of your dollar when it comes to herb. But that's just the wonderful world we live in.
