Transfering the plant?

I was wondering why people plant the seed in a small container and then transfer it later? Why can't you just plant it directly into the larger container??

You can, i don't see why you couldn't. Sometimes that's just the size pots people have. Sometimes it's just all the soil they have, who knows. I usually plant in a 2-3 gallon for starter, then i'll move it to the ground after it's big enough.
