Universal X-Plug 120/240 Receptacle

I found these at discount hydro. They claim, Universal X-Plug 120/240 Receptacle allows for running your ballasts at 120/240 volts without having to change out your ballast power cords.

Has anyone ever used them??? Right now I have 1 lumatek 600 and will have another one in a week. I have the dual voltage ballasts. All I have is the 120 cord. Will this be ok to wire for 220???

I talked to my friend that is also electrician and he said they are safe and it would be good for me to use. Cheaper than buying the 220 cords!!!
