A report of a domestic disturbance on Jubilee Avenue helped Winnipeg police stumble onto a marijuana grow-up worth $880,000 Friday evening.

Officers responded to a residence in the 900 block at around 8:15 p.m. after a report of a domestic disturbance between a man and a woman.

Police said they found the woman at the scene and learned the man had fled. He was later arrested near Calrossie Boulevard and Pembina Highway.

During the investigation, police came across marijuana plants - 800 of them. Members of the police Green Team helped with the investigation, and a search warrant resulted in the seizure of 300 marijuana plants and 500 'clones,' or cuttings. The plants had an estimated street value of $880,000, police said.

A 46-year-old man and 40-year-old woman will face charges of production of a controlled substance. They've been released on a promise to appear.
