a couple of paranoia questions!??

I am going to start my first indoor grow, I have a 600w digi ballast with hps and mh bulbs and vent hood . my grow room is a 16 x 16 foot spare room. Will I give off a huge heat signature if ( where paranoia kicks in) I were to get infrared scanned, like is it enough heat to raise an eye brow? How much ventilation would be needed if room has outside window and is that big ? I am only doing plants for person stash , where I'm from the weed a person can buy is absolutely garbage! Any tips comments or answers for this would be appreciated.. Also soil growing tips

Either way, 1 600w HPS is nothing to worry about, as far as heat sig's... also, they aren't out their burning hundreds of thousands doing random heat sig scans. I remember the paranoia too, it was strong when I first got around to this. Deep breath and read a LOT before you even pop a bean (or get a clone).

As for the size, as what's been said... that's not even nearly close to enough light for 16 x 16, so what you'll want to do is create temp walls, or buy a grow tent, to get your space down to like... 4x4, and even that is pushing it for required lumens per SQ FT.

Agreed, the only way you might get into a jam is by telling anyone or a distinct pot smell outside the house or on you. Those are always the two reasons people get into a jam, they gotta show their friends, lol. Try to be discrete...old saying is no smell, no tell and you stay outa jail. Yea 600w would work great in my 4'x'4 tent, either get smaller or get a bunch more lights, you need around 5k lumens per sq ft. fo optimal growth, but can get by with 2.5K a sq. ft. but your results will suffer. No, this is an unfounded worry. And really, a 600w light is not going to create that big a heat signature, especially if you set the ventilation up right. But like mentioned, you are going to have to get your space down to 4 x 4 or smaller. A tent is a great option. You cannot, either, put plants in the corner of the room as the light will disburse throughout the entire space. I always recommend an air coolable hood. With a 600W, I would get a 6" centrifuge type fan. You may well need a carbon filter also.

People get busted because" They tell people, they have growing supplies and litter that is not disposed of properly, they tell people, they have uncontrolled odors or they tell people. Did I mention not telling other people? Those are the kinds of things that get people busted, not high electricity bills, not ordering seeds online, not ordering growing supplies online, not IRF, etc.

Even if you are in a state that is legal it is a good idea to try and keep things at least a bit stealth as thieves/home invaders can be a threat when LEO is not.
