Hey i threw a couple buds in this pine dvd cabinet i built a few years back. Overnight they already seem to be drying up. Any ideas if its all wood thats absorbent? or is it just that cedar is the most?

I don't think wood type matters that much. Try to see if the stems snap without much trying, make sure you hear a 'snap'. I highly doubt if they are dry, even with a dehumidifier it takes a couple days, don't be anxious.

Each species of wood has a different moisture content. Softer woods being more and some harder woods being less.....but you get a species like heart pine that is very resinous with high acidic level could pose problem...not sure.
I would think;) good air circulation, let it dry until the stems snap like a dry twig, then stick in jar for a good long cure would be the best method IMHO ;)
