Ive learned alot about growing marijuana, but just curious about what it means for say a clone to be an f1 or f2 clone? Not sure what this means, i know it has something to do with how far along into the strain of marijuana it is (i.e. 2nd or 3rd generation is that what it means?)but not exactly sure. All explanations would be appreciated.

Yes an F1 would be 1st generation, a clone would be F2 ,get the breeders bible, its great if want to breed or know about it

These 2 links are some of my sources of info.

An IBL (inbred line) is a genetically homogeneous strain that grows uniformly from seed.
A hybrid is a strain made up of two genetically unlike parents, IBL or hybrid.
When you cross two different IBL strains for the FIRST time, it is called the F1 generation.
When you cross two of the same F1 hybrid (inbreed), it is called the F2 generation.
The process of selective inbreeding must continue at least until the F4 to stabilize the
recurrently selected traits. When you cross two specimens of an IBL variety, you get more
of the same, because an IBL is homozygous, or true breeding for particular traits.

'Scuse me sweet'..a clone has nothing to do with the Fillia..;)
a clone is of the same fillia as the plant it was taken from.
Fillias represent "generations of breeding/crosses"..

"Excellent" link oscar. One of the very ones we have in our "Breeding Info" section ...;)

Hey there 50bud,Hick is correct,a clone is the same as the plant that it is cloned from. But,if you want to know about f1's and f2's and how they are made,
Here you go:

to create a F1 generation, you need nothin more then P1s(parents) stability of the siblings depends on the state of the parents. some say a true F1 generation is done with stable/worked parent plants. this isnt a requirement for a F1 generation, although the F1 population will be much nicer with less variation usin a good parent line.

F2s would be the next filial generation, usin any number of brothers and sisters from the F1, inbreed those plants to create the F2. the F2 generation, should and in most cases be the generation with the largest amount of variation, and is where most do the important selections to continue the line.

in continuein generations, you select for the ideal, cullin plants that dont meet the requirements you established at the start.

there are other breedin techniques such as a self(S)or a backcross(BX), where you could derive a F2 generation as well. in a BX, where you would take any number of plants and go back to a previous generation, ex: takin males from the F4 and goin back to females from the F2, the resultin population would be the BX1, first backcross, inbreedin the BX1 plants results in a F2 generation, outside the original inbred line.

Hope this helps or what you are looking for,if not, well its still good info to know.Keep it GREEN!!!
