What should I do about bugs eating the plant?

Here are some pictures of my plant, it looks like it's been eaten. What can I do to prevent this from happening? What should I do with the already eaten leaf?

Get some snail/sowbug bait and sprinkle it around the plant in a circle.
Kill the darn things... look under the pots and check them at night with a flashlight. Usually that's when the damage is done. Maybe you can catch them in the act and then you'll know what precautions to take.
