In my experience, removing fan leaf stops the developement of the adjacent bud. Whereas, if one just gently folds the fan leaf under so that it rests over a lower limb the bud fed by this leaf continues to prosper while alowing light to the lower buds.>)

Stoney, long no see! If you've this for 20 years you must be using Hydroton..... which would make sense. I've been using coco fiber and chips for several years after trying the Hydroton for 2 crops. Since coco retains so much more moisture than clay would you still recommend watering that...

$300! I buy 48" t-5/w fixtures for $17 each X 4 mounted on a piece of white 2'X4' aluminum panel (for reflection) /w a 1X4" wood spine for support. Or just white painted piece of wood panel 2'X4' +- to fit tubes. All the rest that one gets with those complete units is just fluff!>)

Grow medium, humidity, temperature, and the light source dictate the time schedule. Example; Hydroton, 20% humidy, 100F outdoor temp, and 1KW Hps would call for more watering than coco fiber, 80%RH, 70F temps, and flouros. Plants wills let ya know what they need:>)

Try going with T-5 Flouros and mix the warm and cool colors equally, they penetrate the canopy deeper than what yer using.

Trade the 100w's in for 1 400 watt switchable ballast system then when needed just switch mh bulb with hps and switch ballast to hps setting and keep on growin!>)
