big hot light

help lol ima retard...i wuz dreading goin to the hardware store and spendin 400$ on a hps light for my 1 plant and so i went to my bros house and looked through his basement and found a light but i think it may not be the right kind....its a 120w 120v GE flood light....it gets fairly hot when i turn it on and put my hand in front of it,would it be acceptable to grow 1 plant with???
