Stoners from around the country descend on Seattle this weekend for the High Times US Cannabis Cup. Marijuana lovers will converge on the Fremont neighborhood to sample some of the Seattle areas finest cannabis.
The event marks the second such legal pot party held by the stoner magazine since voters in Washington and Colorado legalized pot. For over 25 years, the publication has hosted its annual awards show in Amsterdamformerly the worlds most pot-tolerant countrybut with American voter-approved pot tolerance, stateside cannabis contests have become better-attended than their overseas counterpart. High Times held their first US Cannabis Cup in Denver in April, and produces medical-pot-specific events in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Detroit.
The two-day Seattle event is open to anyone age 21 or older and copious pot smoking is allowed and encouraged. A Saturday night concert at the WAMU theater features pot-friendly musicians Slightly Stoopid and Redman.
