Could I plug the 50 watt HPS bulb into a standered light socket?...

The footnotes on that 50 watt bulb states "Use with pulse rated 4000V sockets only." They still require a ballast, I believe. Just my thoughts. Take care and be safe.

Sorry my friend. Gotta buy the ballast to get the HID system. Ebay has some great deals. You should check it out. Just my thoughts. Take care and be safe.
