No Key to figure out strains?

Back in biology 101, we used a key of sorts to figure out what kind of animal we found or plant material we had. Is there nothing like this for marijuana? Something where you look at a specific part- like the leaf and you decide between traits whet the leaf looks like, then maybe the vascular system of the leaf, then the stem, then the bud, then the pistils, etc?

Too many variables....then you throw each individual grower in the mix, and the variablity gets wider...

1 strain can be grown by 10 folks and some will look similar, some will look completley different, even though they are all the same strain.
