Hey Marywanna, area is a result of multipling width x length. Height is only used with width and length when calculating cubic area. To find your area, you have to convert to feet first. 18 inches divided by 12 inches (1 foot) = 1.5 feet 1.5 x 1.5 = 2.25 square feet. If you're good, you can grow two small plants in that much area. You'll have to be very careful of fire. Growing in tight spaces is a fire risk.
