im getting some canna nutes and in the directions it is talking about EC of 1.0-1.3 mS/cm does anyone know what that means exactly and how i mesure it????????

ec = electrical conductivity refers to tds( total disolved salts) or ppm(parts per million) an EC 1.0- 1.3 is meant to tell you how much nutes are being used. To measure it you need an EC meter. They can measure ec or tds or ppm depending which one you buy.

oh i see so you cant just go off the recommended mls per litre

you can dose off the label on the bottle.... i'd start at 1/2 strength and slowly work my way up.... EC, TDS, and PPM are the most accurate way of knowing exactly what strength you are feeding.... those numbers seem a bit more critical to me when growing in hydro rather than soil.... i rarely, if ever, check them for my soil grows.... however, i have been using the same fertilizers for a few years and can guess pretty well how a plant will react to a specific dosage....
