Does anyone know what will happen if you screw a 400 watt hps bulb into a 600 watt ballast and light it?...What I mean is will the bulb burn out or will it just light at 400 watt?.....

...or shatter or explode. Or start a fire. That's why there are bulbs/ballasts that come in different wattages. This is definitely not an experiment I would ever want to try.
