The problem with that joke is it's not really a joke,,it's reality for many young men in the Catholic Church.

I grew up in the Catholic Church. In Colo. I would spend two weeks up at the priests farm several times and never got touched by anyone or saw that kind of thing at all. So I count myself as lucky. OR just plane ugly. But the whey they treated my mom when she wanted to divorce my bum ass dad was not good. Even though he would run off with his last paycheck every year or so and leave my mom to raise us 5 kids by herself they stood up for him. At least my mom must have had a feeling about him she got her Registered nurse license. So she was able to support us fairly well.

What does society do with homeless or offending children. Orphanages were often started by nuns, and brothers set up delinquent boys homes; these are overseen by churches. Religious groups runs schools and youth groups. This means religious leaders had access to vulnerable children. Could be in some cases pedophiles actually saw the job as a way of gaining access to children. There are more and more religious organizations getting caught doing exactly that. It's happening everyday. It's being reported everyday.

Years ago I got a letter from a 'pastor' in Ohio somewhere. Inside the envelope was a short length of knitting yarn.
The letter stated that if I placed that piece of yarn on my windowsill (and sent 'Reverend Bill' a $20.00 donation! ) a small miracle would occur for me...the bigger the 'donation', the bigger the "Miracle", of course.

Not long after that, the guy made headlines for being what he was - a scammer.
