Pulled this out of the local paper today.

(06/27/2019)
Medical cannabis has been slow moving in West Virginia, the WV Legislature consumed by the Omnibus Education Bill during 2019.
State patients and caregivers waiting for the state's medical cannabis program to officially start in July will have to wait.

The enabling legislation passed in March and May.

One bill addressed a banking issue since cannabis money is still federally illegal. The other will allow growers, processors and dispensaries to profit as singular companies.

Department of Health and Human Resources spokeswoman Allison Adler says it will take two to three years before patients can procure medical cannabis.

However, terminally ill cancer patients can get medical cannabis through reciprocity agreements with other states. Other patients will have to wait.

2 or 3 years? I thought Massachusetts was bad but then again, I think WV is a conservative state (so the old guard doesn’t want it legal even if their constituents do). Massachusetts is liberal so the powers that be just needed to take a piece of the pie(for themselves), make it unworkable for regular people to make a living in the industry (so their liberal, big donor pals who can afford to get into the industry get their bite) and figure out how they could give more money to programs benefitting scofflaws (so the politicians can get re-elected)...

Well that top honor of corruption goes hands down to Illinois.
In itself the single most corrupt state in the union.
HOWEVER......since it IS money they love, they saw the tax oppertunity and passed legal adult use starting in Jan.

Took Massachusetts 2 and a half years after the citizens of Massachusetts voted for adult use for any adult use stores to open. The dirty politicians(they all are) held closed door meetings to change the verbiage that was approved by the voters and even delayed any openings by a year at one point...

I know what it is like to try and score a doobie in WV, I had a hell of a time, finally got a pinner, all paper from a relative of Buds... They need cannabis there to help with the opioid problems and for general health.

NJ did the same thing. Corsine wrote the law, but Christie changed it when took office. Then he delayed the dispensaries opening by 1 1/2 years and then restricted the number of dispensaries to 4 for the entire state. The worst part was the folks running and growing, knew nothing about growing and their weed sucked. It was piss poor medicine and would have been laughed at in Cali.
