Flowering growth?

I hear a lot of people say that your plant will double or triple in size when you flower it. My plants don't grow at all short of budding. I am confused by why my plants don't grow, they bud with no problem. I am running a 400w HPS with a cool tube my light on temp is 74 deg and my plants are inches from the cool tube that is also at 74 deg. Is this a bad thing that they don't grow or is the flowering growth considered stretch as well.

Sounds like you are growing indicas or indica dominant plants. The cooltube being 4 inches from the tops probably helps too.
