Pruning

When should I start pruning the branchs? And does this effect yield or does it concentrate the buds and growth sites to main stem?s

Imagine your body has 25 arms and each arm holds a small battery that keeps you fed and makes you grow strong, if someone came and cut half your arms off then you only have half the power to keep strong and with only half the power you will not grow strong but stay small.

So you don't trim at all Hippy?

edit- The reason I ask is I just completed my first grow and I think the harvest could have been much better had I trimmed more before flowering. I thought trimming was a necessity to keep the growth up top?
