running out of room

I just started my plants flowering but I think I might not have left enough room to do so.

My plants are about two feet tall right now but I only have about two more feet left without the lights burning them. Does anyone know any tips to help prevent them from becoming too tall? I know i should have started flowering when they were around a foot tall but I was late in setting up my flowering tent.

Also, how long before I will be able to tell the sex of them? I want to weed out the males asap so ill have more room. Thanks for the help.
