I have recently moved to Tennessee with the folks about a month ago. I have no job or friends yet. For the past month Ive been trying to find a job. Ive turned in about 20 apps or so and not one call back yet. Ive tried Walmart, Bestbuy, Blockbuster, etc... I brought a stash with me of about 30 gs or so and Im down to like 4. Starting to get depressed... What do you guys think I should do? Ill take any suggestions, Ill work almost anywhere, the only thing I dont want is fast food industry. I didnt do very well in high school either. Pretty much Im a **** up and clueless.:cry::confused:

well looks like you are ginna have some MP friends soon :p

but as for the job front idk ,,,looking for one myself in the uk :spit:

how about looking for outside seasonal work ,just to get you threw the winter
:goodluck in your job search ...peace:

Forgive me for asking, but why would anyone want to move TO Tennessee? Kind of like telling someone you're moving to Texas!
If you don't have a good academic record, I suggest you learn a trade - like electrician or plumbing. Good money and there will always be a demand for someone who knows how to fix a leak or install a circuit. Also, with those two trades there are openings for more specialised work such as HVAC.

you could try getting hired on with a contractor in the area,, you'll learn quite a bit from a good contractor.

HVAC more specialized than electrical and plumbing? LOL--it is the other way around in the state I live in. Plumbing and electrical in my area require years of apprentice work, schooling, and testing to be able to work in the fields--takes 4 years of school, 8000 hours of on the job work, and 2 tests to be a Journeyman--another 2-1/2 years of working as a journeyman and another test to be a master electrician or plumber and work on your own (6-1/2 years total ). HVAC workers here are not even licensed.

I dont understand what you mean leafminer. I have been to both Tennessee and Texas. And the ladies in both are smokin hot, with killer accents.

But yea. I agree with LM on the rest. Learn a trade, electrician plumbing welding mechanic HVAC. All needed trades.
Good places to meet people too. And since your basically alone there, plenty of time to study and such.
Better your future now so you dont get stuck like you are as time rolls along.
You dont want to run into this problem again when your 40-50.

lol. Thats strange THG.
One of my kids friends went into plumbing. He didnt need anything like that, his schooling lasted no time it seems. But he did apprentice some during HS and all.
But for HVAC, you have schools out there, and I believe have update classes every few years to keep you certified. Classes being like a weekend long or 3 days, something like that.

But either way, Worth the investment of time to secure a good future in which you are always in demand.

Yo Ho o K U S H o,

Friend, a job is out there. But first ask yourself a few basic questions before you go running off half loaded for bear.

1. What do you like to do that trips your trigger ?
2. Are you a morning bird, or a night owl ?
3. Can you travel ?
4. Are you in good physical condition ?
5. What educational area's were your strong areas ?
6. Have you set your short, mid-range , and long range goals
for your life ?

These questions are the kind that you want to stay focused on. Here is why, Should you find that you hate waking up and going to work then you are in the wrong line of work. Should you find that you love what it is that you do for a living, and it excites you, then you will never work a day in your life.

The idea with listing all these things out, is for you to maybe get an idea of yourself, and what you might be able to combine, and then find a way to make it all come together into what you choose to do to earn a good income.

Might I also add that a casual trip to the library can reveal some interesting things for you. One is the fact that most library's have the current daily newspapers, and what's more is that you can check out a book that lists most of all the jobs that are in the world, and you would be surprised at what is out there that you can get paid to do seriously friend look in to this, see if I am right ya know...

I agree with KK. A library card is your friend. Best of luck

Oh snap bartend! Its easy, fast money that doesn't require a whole lot of talent. That you can pick up along the way. And leafminer there is nothing wrong with texas i was born there!

:holysheep:Thank you all for your very helpful posts. It looks like I have a lot of research to do the next couple of days. I did move to Tennessee tho for a reason. I had gotten into some trouble with the law and a lil while after that my parents said they were moving here and I was welcome to come. I really didnt want to but it was a good decison in the long run. I love my friends and all but they arent exactly going down the right path and Im not screwing my life up anymore with the law. So here Iam in a fresh state looking to start over. Again, thank you all for the helpful post, it made me smile to see that you were all able to give me great advice. I cant say thank you enough.

I work in the water utility field. There are excellent online training resources that will help you become certified as a distribution and/or treatment operator. Plus, you'll learn about water quality parameters that will be useful for a certain horticultural hobby. You won't get rich, but the work is steady and you learn something new everyday. You can do well if you find a mentor, apply yourself, study hard and achieve your goal.
Be prepared to be drug free for awhile. Doing so will help you focus and pass the dreaded pre-employment drug test. You can do this if you try. I have helped under-educated gang-bangers pass certification exams and find gainful employment with good benefits.
Try researching the American Water Works Association, Montana Water and CSU Sacramento Office of Water Programs for correspondence course work and online classes.
Best,
Mr.Greengenes

Hey oKUSHo, you might want to check craigslist for jobs. Look in the general labor section, there is usually alot of ppl just looking for hard workers and dont care about your past.

Gotta agree with the learn a trade sentiment....A lot of trade schools will even help place you in a job after completion...you cld go to trade school during the day and bartend at night to make some cash...

Good for you dude!
Good decision.....I've made similar decisions for similar reasons and never looked back.....

Happy Turkey Day...

do they have any head or smoke shops there??...I would apply because those people will have hook ups or maybe even sale themselves...

HI bud,

Don't sell yourself short. Just because it took you some time to put things in perspective doesn't mean that you have to keep going down that same road and props to you for getting away for a fresh start. Future success is up to you. What's in the past is over and you must now look ahead and take hold of your life. It sounds like you're still pretty young but it's NEVER too late to turn things around imho. I suggest that you smoke up the last of your stash and go on the wagon for a while to clear your head as well as clean the thc out of your system so you'll be eligible for more jobs that test for drugs. After you get a job you'll start to feel out the situation and meet some local people and some stoners and you can go about getting some bud through a relatively safe source. I don't know where you moved to TN from but like most of America there isn't the variety and easy availability of different strains that places like Cali/NYC/Pacific NW have.

Peace!
