Maybe I'm just different than others here. But I try to keep the plants with some room between them. That allows the lights to reach down and at least make popcorn buds. The buds on the bottom may be smaller but just as tasty.

I use Fox Farm Ocean out of the bag and then use it 3 part FF to 1 part perlite. That's what works for me. Others us FF right out of the bag without adding to it. I add the perlite in order to give better drainage and also help cut the cost of the pricey FF.
