250w to 400w HPS

Wanting to know the difference in heat output from the 250w to 400w. And what would be recommended for each on cooling/ventalation. Anyone able to chime in on this one?

I have a 250, my friend has a 400. I can get my plants 8 inches from the light with no prob. My friend has to keep his double the distance away. 2 250w would be better than 1 400w imo.

I have a 400w and i can get my plants 2 inches off my light with no burning. But i also have my light air cooled and the glass shield always has air blowing across it to keep temps down.
