Can Fans?

I have noticed those six inch can or duct fans for pretty cheap. With a 4x4x7 hydro hut and a 600w air cooled hood and only 5-6 feet total ducting and no carbon scrubber, would the can fan suffice? Hate to spend $140 on one of those high volume fans. Thanks for any help.

I use a can fan in my tent, but only to vent the light hood. I use 1 of those expensive fans with a carbon filter to vent the tent itself. You can not smell anything in my house.

Umbra, is the can fan on the downstream side of the light? I don't worry about smell too much at it vents into my attic. Never have smelled it outside.
