We don't have one hooked up but i would say you hook it up to your exhaust.

hook it up out your exhaust. then vent it towards the ceiling if you dont have another room to blow into.

blowing it out thru filter so smell never leaves box

to properly "scrub" odor, you need to have the filter on the intake side of the exhaust fan. this way odor is pulled thru the activated charcoal. blowin it thru will work but greatly decreases the performance of the fan.
