hi all
i have a 600w & 400w HPS lights with ballasts etc..

i also have a 250w bulb,can i change 1 of the bulbs (600w,400w) & just put the 250w bulb in.

i asked a friend & he said i CANT

is this possible

thanks all:)

No man I would not advise that. Bulb needs to match ballast and i'm not sure if it could start a fire but it will certainly shorten the life of the bulb. So if you like changing $50 bulbs out every month or so then be my guest. Save yourself all the trouble and just buy a matching bulb for your system.

you need a 250w ballast. check out 1000bulbs.com (3w's in front of that) The cheapest place I have seen for bulbs and ballasts.

You could probably change your 400HPS for a 400 CMH but that's as far as it goes. MH will not work from HPS ballast.

unless you have a switchable ballast...but I think those are actually 2 ballasts in one housing...I never tore into mine to see, but I'm assuming thats the case because there is a switch to flip between MH and HPS
