Looking to buy several new wave 4 ft. 8 lamp fluorescents, cheapest I have seen is $314 including the light hanger...

if anyone knows where to get this cheaper, please post...or even an equivilent fixture. thanks

if your the DIY type, go buy the T5 ballasts and wire them up on your own board.....you'll save hundereds..

Try Grainger.com. They are are hardware company and not a grow shop so it keeps down suspicion. They have great prices on everything you need hardware wise.

You can get two of these as they are 4 bulbs each for $75, $150 total

or two of these with 6 bulbs each for a whopping twelve bulbs $110, $220 total.

You'd have to buy a case of lamps, I like the 5k and they are $118 for 40 bulbs, so you'd be stocked up for awhile.

the cheapest I ever bought was recent... 18.00 for a commercial fixture (for 2 tubes), I got 2 of them, and bought twin packs of Ecolux technology 48'' daylight for 6.00 each.. from lowes home improvement.. it say it last 9 years..runs 40 watt along with light output of 3,050 lumens so you want 8 tubes time 3,050 will runs you 24,400 of lumens... not bad.. couple of wood panels will make you nice hood and attach these, simple..

What lumens and bulb temp due T5 run?

The T5 HO will produce roughly 5000 lumens per lamp at a 3000k or 6500k spectrum.

8 lamps x 5000 will give you 40,000 lumen output per fixture approximately but its probably a little lower than that. Pretty much the same as a 400w MH but without the heat.

Anyone know what is a good watts or lumens per square foot with using these?

Did some calculations and was wondering if I should be ok or will need to cramp a few more lights in.

3900 lumens apox per square foot
or
42 watts per square foot

* this is for vegging plants only not flowering....*
