Not kidding, the first time I ever waterskied it was behind a Hobie16 on blue mountain lake in the 'dacks. I was like, 8 or 9, bunch of us cousins mucking about in boats, didn't need much horsepower to get up- just a bit of speed. Long windy lake was perfect for that, just cling to the transom til ya find your footing and then... walk on water!
 
we used to waterski in the river behind my house. Dad had a 14ft aluminum runabout with a Johnson 35. When we turned I could pull the stern outta the water. Nowadays I can't figure out how we didn't kill ourselves. The river ain't wide enough for skiing anymore
 
I haven't water skied since i was in my 20s or snow skied since i was in my 30s.
 
That is it. When we were young the government paid teenagers every summer to clean the creeks and streams. Now they are filling up with deadfall and then the runoff fills in and the river shrinks.
