IMO, I would messure your drum as a square unless you have a light shade that is round.

Area of a circle = pi (3.14) X radius (half the diameter) squared (times itself).

Measure across the top or your drum. That's the diameter (pretend it's 36"). Half that number is the radius (would be 18").

So: 18" X 18" = 324 square inches

Then: Area = 324 square inches X 3.14 = 1017.36 square inches

Then, to get square feet, divide by 144. 1017.36 divided by 144 =7.065 square feet.

7 square feet is probably pretty close to what you'd have with a 55gl drum.
