On Tuesday, October 21, 2008 Agents of the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force, with the assistance of law enforcement personnel from the Watonwan County Sheriff's Office and the St. James Police Department, executed a series of narcotics search warrants in reference to an Outdoor Marijuana Grow Operation.

Agents of the Drug Task Force had received information in the past month concerning the existence of an Outdoor Marijuana Grow Operation which was being operated by two suspects identified as Bradley Curtis Westman, and Margaret Ann Strenge.

In conducting the initial investigation, Agents determined that Westman was the owner of property located at 34106 730th Avenue, St. James, MN. Based upon this intelligence, Agents conducted surveillance on this location and observed evidence of an Outdoor Marijuana Grow Operation. A search warrant was applied for and obtained for this property. During the execution of this search warrant, approximately 10 marijuana plants were seized, as well as other evidence showing the ongoing growing and cultivation of marijuana.

A subsequent narcotics search warrant was executed at the residence of Westman and Strenge located at 18 8th Avenue North, St. James. During that execution of this search warrant, several items of drug paraphernalia were located as well as reference material relating to the cultivation of Marijuana. Law enforcement personnel further located a hidden basement room accessed only by a trap door in a bedroom closet which was determined to contain approximately 72 individual marijuana branches in various sizes.

Strenge was arrested and transported to the Watonwan County jail pending a 5th Degree Controlled Substance violation for the cultivation of marijuana. Westman was unable to be located. Therefore, a warrant will be requested for his arrest on a 5th Degree Controlled Substance Violation as well.
