t12's vs t8's????

ok i was at wallyworld today and was gonna pick up some t8's with electronic ballast. when i checked the bulbs they had less lumes than my t12's. the t8s were like 2800 and my t12s are 3050 both at 6500k. my ballast are the old magnetic style ballast so i figured it was a good upgrade just for that. can anyone shed some light on this for me? should i just stay with the old t12's

but they take almost 2 times as much power and take up 1/3 more space...easily

Go T8 or T5 and spend the extra $....u can put more lights per sq. foot for the same elec.
