Now and then I hear about people using organic pestacides or lady bugs on there babies for there bug problem. In my opinion any pestacide is bad and not to knock the lady bug, they do there job to help your inscet problem. But they only eat the larva of the insect thats infesting your crop. So what could this gardener's best friend be? The Praying Mantis, one of natures finest preditors. These little inscets can get to be your best friend, Sitting there camouflaged on your babies like a little hired hitman. Not only do they eat just about every inscet, they can handel birds and some times rodents which helps outdoor growers as well. You can buy the egg sack from just about any garden store or hardware store. THey take any ware from 2-8 weeks of warm weather to hatch. Several hundred tiny babies wiggle their way out and drop from tiny little threads. They look thin and worm-like as they hatch, and in a few minutes they start to strech there legs and crawl around. As babies they feast on gnats and fruit flies, exc.... They can be very friendly twords people, and will sometimes come on to an outreached hand. They can be very rewarding for both you and your babies. Not only do they get rid of unwanted inscets, there a wounderful creature to study and enjoy
