What are the different types of lime?

Calcitic Lime...30% Calcium and 4% magnesium (varies)

Dolimite Lime....22% Calcium and 12% Magnesium (varies)

Hydrated Lime isn't approved in organic gardening standards.

I found the last time that I tried dissolving in water with the Espoma lime that it didn't work well and actually caused the pH in the water to drop very low. I don't know why exactly but it is about more than just dissolving it in the water. I think it is because of the break up of the different elements in the pellets and joining with the H2O and whatever else might be in the water, it changed the chemical solution. It must not break down as quickly in soil to create an issue.
