Heya everyone,

Well I am back at it again with a new grow space up and running, sorta, Have a few finishing touches to do, but there are plants in there growing!!!!.

Well the object of this grow is to find a few nice mother plants. I have 3 strains so far in the mix, I have a couple more in stock, but they will have to wait a bit. I have chosen 3 strains for this grow, Crystal, Ice and Bubblegum. All of these seeds are from www.Marijauna-seeds.nl.

The main method for growing is a recirculating DWC setup. I am going to use Botanicare ProBlend nutes, (at least to start. )

I started the Crystal a few weeks ago, and they will be ready to clone within a week or so. I topped the three tallest ones to promote some side growth for cuttings. The fourth one is a nice short lil bushy plant that is staying REALLY short, (a nice candidate so far as long as it is a girl).

The Ice and Bubblegum I just put into 1 in cubes last night. Not much to say about them.

I started 6 of each strain and so far I have a 18out of 18 germination rate. I did however have 2 of the Crystal that were just weak plants and have since culled them.

Anyway, here are a couple pics.

In the first pic, the plant on the lower left is a Trifoliate that popped, and the one on the lower right is the nice lil short bushy one..

I will try to get a couple closeups of the tripod for the journal.... I have a couple of her posted when she was a bit younger.

Hey everyone,

Well it has been a few days since I updated. I know this journal is not very exciting yet, seeing as all I have is vegging plants and seedlings, however, it will get very exciting soon hopefully.

Well let's update on the 4 Crystal plants I have vegging atm. The three taller ones including Tripod have taken a turn for the worse. Not exactly sure what is going on with them. I might have bumped the nutes too strong on them and they are not liking it. I have come to the conclusion that I did not want to keep them anyway. Now Shorty is an UBER looking plant and very resiliant.... she is VERY healthy and is now the proud donor of 6 new cuttings I put in the cloner a few minutes ago. Once I get a few of the clones rooted I will throw her into bloom to confirm if it is really a SHE.... I really hope so. I am going to do a full water change on the 3 tall plants today too.. gonna at least try to save them, though I think it might be futile.

I also upgraded the homes on the 6 bubblegum and 6 Ice seedlings.... I put the 1 " cubes into some 3" cubes.... there were a couple where roots were already coming out the bottom of the 1 in cubes. When I start seeing roots on the 3 " cubes I will move them into their permanant homes.

Oh and another change, I have decided against the recirculating DWC.... I am going to still put them together but I am gonna turn it into a drip system. The reason is more of a stealth and noise decision..... with the drip system I can run EVERY drip section with one air pump. If I went DWC for the whole room, I would have to run a couple more large air pumps and that would be REALLY loud.

Cloning Technique Lesson: When you are taking your cuttings, cut from a side branch. Make sure you do NOT cut all the way back to the main stalk. Leave one node on the branch you are cutting. That node will grow new branches to provide you with new cuttings later on. You can see an example of this in the picture below.

PS: The two other cuttings in the cloner are from my Salvia Divinorum plant......Blosser strain if anyone is interested. Not suppose to talk too much of other drugs, but I am talking about a plant. I have a large collection of plants with medicinal and non medicinal properties hehehe..

CRYSTAL
Hey everyone Well I looked in my cloner the other night and was greeted by some roots. I was starting to doubt myself, I had several cuttings dry up and die. Thought I was losing my touch, but I also was using my humidity dome to start my seedings. So the new cuttings were exposed to dryer air and most of the ones I lost were really newer growth and very tender, which IME is a lil more difficult to clone. I also got a couple roots on my Salvia cuttings, my first time cloning that plant. So on Mar 26, I put the donor plant into flowering mode, I am 99% positive that it is a GIRL!!!! Female preflowers are very evident on the lower nodes, as can be seen in the pics below. This plant has to be the most beautiful marijuana plant I have ever grown. HUGE fan leaves, nice color, thick strong main stalk. I can't wait to see how she flowers. Kinda hard to beleive that I started with 6 seeds and this is the only one that amounted to anything.. I am thinking that the Crystal strain is not very stabilized and is more of a quest for the pheno. However I am not very qualified to make that determination myself. Just my observation on this grow. I have 4 more of the seeds and I will grow them out in the future to see how they turn out.Tripod did the same thing the other 4 that I killed did.... got about a foot tall, looked good and then just petered out..... weird...Enjoy the pics.... Bud PORN soon to come.

ICE
Well it has been a couple weeks since I germinated the 6 seeds. for the first week I just watered the Rockwool cubes with PH'd water.. At age of about 10 days, I placed the seedlings and cubes into a more permanant home... Their nice lil 10 in net pots in my new drip system I made up.... I was gonna use DWC for my entire setup, but being in the attic, the noise from the airpumps would have been VERY NOT Stealthy, so I went with Drip. MUCH quieter, and is the system that I started with so I am very familiar with it. At 14 days of age, I have started with very light nutes.... My tap water runs about 140 PPM so I bumped it up to 300 PPM and 5.7 on PH. at the time of this posting the plants are about 17 days old now and starting to take off in growth. All 6 plants are looking great and very similar to each other, well one has some brown spots on the leaves but I think that's from some water being left on the leaves at a young age and burning a lil bit. New growth looks good though. On the pics you will see the plants labeled 1-6, as the title of the thread states, this is the initial seed grow of a perpetual grow being established. I am looking for a couple good donor plants, or at least 1, of each strain to clone. The initial plants will be grown to a decent size and clones will be established before sexing so there is no chance of losing a potential Mother without risking a reveg. Most of the plants will probably be sexed before even putting into flower as they will be Very mature and probably show preflowers before blooming is induced.Enjoy the pics. Not really a lot to look at yet, but it could be educational for a newer grower to know what to expect on their first grow.

BUBBLEGUM
Pretty much the same write up as the Ice post, so I will not go into big detail seeing as there is no difference really.... In fact, both grows are being fed out of the same res atm LOL.... and both grows are the same age.....I will have to say that these seeds are from marijuana-seeds.nl..... so far I have a 100% germination rate. I am pretty happy with them so far.... I am a lil concerned about the Crystal seeds I grew, as to the large variances I had with the plants..... So far the Ice and Bubblegum seem to be pretty uniform.Enjoy the pics. Again not a lot to look at atm.... might be helpful to a newbie though.

Yea I have been growing for a few years now off and on, but these are my first grows with bought seeds.... everything up until now has b een with bagseed with pretty good results.... Have done a reveg or 2, dabbled in just about everything with growing..... I am thinking of trying some grafting with MJ soon too... I have grafted trees before, but never soft tissue plants.

I bought a rooted Salvia clone from one of the supply houses on the net.... kinda expensive, like 20 bucks I think, but I like the interesting plants, or ones with interesting effects. I took the cuttings from it after the main stalk broke from the original plant...

I started off in soil, but personally I found Hydro to be much easier and cleaner :) .
