germinating in peatmoss?

Is this not a good soil to use to germ seeds in? because i just started 8 seeds in a wet paper towel and they all sprouted, i put them in the peat moss 3 days ago and none have broken the top yet. and yes i did only put them half the tip of my finger down.

they can take upward of wight days sometimes, peat is sometimes to acidic ive heard
