175W MH question

Hey buddys, I'm embarking on my first grow with a 175W MH light. My closet is 3'x2'. Is that gonna be enough light power or will I have to upgrade?

that's really pushing it and is hopefully supplented with mylar or even a 15w fluoro. In chambers of this size, ventilation is critical.

The light needed to grow MJ properly is a minimum of 3,000 lumens per/sq ft.

5,000 lumens per/sq ft is better. Your light should have a lumen rating. You have 6 square feet to light. You need at least 18,000 lumens, but you'd have a much better grow with 30,000 lumens.

how many lunems does a 175 put out?
around 13,000 lumens thats good for 3 sq ft.
a 250MH puts out abour 20-22,000 lumens.
Probably a lot better choice an more or less cost the same.

Hmmm, so you're saying I should bump up to a 400W?

A pair of 175's would be good for your grow. They would provide a nice even light over the entire crop. A 400 would indeed max out your light in that amount of area.
