Adding more soil?

I need a second opinion on wheather or not i should just dig the holes,then wack some water crystals and dynamic lifter in em,without adding anymore potting mix and letting them grow in the dirt already there,or should i buy the potting mix?

I know it'd be better to buy more potting mix,but i really dont wanna be goin out 2-3 times to buy potting mix,then takin 1 bag up each time i go to the plot.Would it matter that much if i didnt use anymore potting mix?

IMHO, that would depend on the "quality" of the existing soil.
If it is relatively good dirt, "I" have gotten by, with a 50/50 mix, native topsoil and potting mix.
