Hi all-

This year i decided to start my vegetable garden from seed rather then buying seedlings to try and save some $. Last night I paper toweled all my seeds with RO water some b1 and a little peroxide. Today (less then 24 hrs) i opened them up so see if i had any had sprouted. They were all ok except for the basil seeds they were slimy and kind of mushy. Is this normal? I doubt they rotted in 18hrs and the peroxide should have prevented any mould.

Any1 have any experience germing basil seeds?

I germinate my basil seeds in soil kept pretty moist and in full sun. Basil seeds take about a week to sprout, at least for me. I'm going to use rockwool next time.

Yes, the goo is normal for basil seeds, it's not mould.

They're a bit of a pain to germ in paper towel, because once the roots come out, they tend to get intertwinned with the paper towel, unless you act quick.

:)
