It would be extremely difficult to get rid of all that heat. Granted it can be done but it will take a lot of work and a good ventilation system / cold air intake.
Oh yeah, and when you have glass between the bulb and the plant it reduces a lot of heat. I used a sheet of glass from a 11 x 13 picture frame and just rigged it up there.
